I've been a fairly avid fan of Trent Reznor and NIN since his first
record came out (saw him perform during the first Lollapalooza tour, as well
as in a small club in 1990 and no one showed up!!!) and quite appreciate his
vast volumes of remixes and ep's, as they are almost always completely
different than the original song versions and essentially new material.

However, I can't say that I've ever considered his post-apocalyptic
style of writing to be anything remotely funky. Another listmember emailed
me saying that he had read a recent article in which Trent Reznor claimed to
have been listening to quite a few 70's records, so I guess we know that he
was in a funky mindstate while recording this often-delayed new release (it
was supposed to be out last summer!!!!!), but I just can't imagine it: Mr.
Goth himself getting his groove on! Anyhow, it should certainly be
interesting, and certain to spark quite a bit of debate if the album winds
up being funk after all!!
