I'd like to share with you some reviews, even though they came out in
'98.
1) Ed Rush & Optical- Wormhole (Virus)
Oh my Gosh!!! The future funky sounds are similiar to the vibe of
Weather Report's "Sweetnighters" or Miles Davis's "Bitches Brew". Deep
analogue basslines, funky f/x, and really organic rollin' beats (ie.
Roni Size, V, Full Cycle breaks)!!! Awesome 5LP set!
2) Jonny L.- Magnetics (XL)
Hard distorted funk complete steppin' breaks and gnarly futuristic
bass!!! It only calms down for "Accelerate" w/ Lady Miss Kier ( of
Dee-lite). Other great moments is the brooding, but Funky "Brother",
"viper" (w/ Optical), & "20 degrees" (w/ English MC Silvah Bullet)!!!
This for peopz out that like their Techstep, Funky!!! 6LP set
3) Bill Riley- Closing In (Full Cycle)
This Bristol producer (Protocol, Full Cycle) comes correct with the
Future Funk. Two tracks have haunting, but soulful vocals (ie. Reprezent
& Grooverider "Mysteries..."). The other 2 are almost Soundtrack
like/Spy flick music!!! Double 12" that rocks!
4) Ram Trilogy 1, 2, & 3 (RAM)
Created by awesome DJ's Andy C, Shimon, & Ant Miles. This is Deep,
Futuristic Drum & Bass at it's best. Rollin'!!!! 3 seperate 12"'s.
