I received this message via !K7 Records and thought it was worth
passing along....
--- Begin Message ---
We always knew the music business is a dirty game, and this is how we feel:
We have just found out that New York based Shadow Records will be releasing a
record promoted under the name "Kruder & Dorfmeister - Conversions."
We have to express the following facts regarding that release:
This record is NOT the third Kruder & Dorfmeister mix CD. It was done in 1995,
and this record does NOT in any way represent the current Kruder & Dorfmeister
sound.
Also we are aware that part of music business is to re-release old recordings
on other peoples backs, but we will not participate in this cheap fucked up sell
out for profits.
Following the success of our Studio K7 release "The K&D Sessions TM" this old
project has been suddenly promoted under the name Kruder & Dorfmeister without
our consent or knowledge. The CD has been introduced into the media
inappropriately as a new "Kruder & Dorfmeister" release. We disavow
any relations to that release, and we feel it is improper use of our name.
In Europe the same has been attempted, but the K&D legal department prevented
such. It's incredible that the same is being attempted in the United States.
We feel it was improper for this release to be licensed to Shadow without our
support and knowledge, and we apologize for any inconveniences that may have
incurred regarding this issue. Nor should Shadow Records or us suffer for the
greed of others. We are committed to providing our supporters with the best
they can expect, and we thank them graciously for their support over the years.
If you are looking for REAL, NEW, Kruder & Dorfmeister recordings look out for
our new remix of Madonna's newest single "Nothing Really Matters" or our
upcoming album.
See you on our US tour in March
sincerely,
Peter Kruder & Richard Dorfmeister
PS: The US Tour is exclusively in support of and only Studio K7's release
"The K&D Sessions TM". We sever any relations with any other release in regards
to our tour.
--- End Message ---
Well, I'm not surprised to hear about ANY Shadow shenanigans, as they
habitually license other people's material and pass it off as their own,
as well as endlessly regurgitating the same licensed album material
on one compilation after another. But having said that, this CONVERSIONS
compilation is nothing to be ashamed about. It's a perfectly fine col-
lection of jazzy drum'n'bass, selected and mixed by Kruder & Dorfmeister.
Just don't expect another SESSIONS.
