I guess this last bit explains why I find Matt's review TOTALLY
off the mark. Maybe this is typical of the "tech-house" list, but
if the acid-jazz list ever starts rating records by how well they
fit into a DJ set, or what kind of clubs you can play them in,
I'm outta here!
IMNSHO, Guilluame's album is a triumph, expanding the parameters
of what is considered "house music" by going back to the roots, i.e.,
African (or Haitian) rhythms. Over the course of two CDs, there
is a LOT of variety, which I also consider to be a good thing. I
would recommend this album to anyone who wants a rich listening
experience. Unless you're on the tech-house list. ;-)
