I discovered an incredible jazz singer named Anna Young, who
is featured on "Showa 64", a 2CD jap jazz not jazz comp from
Disorient. She does an excellent rendition of Weill's "Speak Low".
I'd like to gain some info on Anna Young and her releases. I'm having
trouble finding anything on the web. I also checked Grove's dictionary
and Soul Music Who's Who, no mention of her anywhere.
The comp is worth buying for the liner notes alone, providing a
lengthy mental walkthrough of the jap jazz dance music scene from
the last couple of decades. The audio excerpts from the Snakeman
radio show are hilarious. Check www.mrbongo.com for tracklists
