Cassius are a French duo featuring Phillipe Zdar and Hubert Blanc-
Francart
AKA Boombass.
Together they have recorded as La Funk Mob, releasing singles on the
ultra-hip French label, Source, as well as doing remixes on Nenah
Cherry,
Bjork, Daft Punk, Air and Depeche Mode. As La Funk mob they released two
classic Ep's of hip-hop beats and techno attitude on James Lavell'e
pioneering label Mo' Wax.

They met 12 years ago, in a recording studio, were Phillipe was an
engineer
and Hubert was learning to produce. They bonded over their obsessions
about
hip-hop culture, and quickly became close friends. The friendship soon
morphed into a working relationship, as they went to work as the
production
team behind French rap star Mc Solaar. In addition to their work
together,
their individual credits are equally impressive. Boombass went on to
produce all four of Mc Solaar's albums, while Phillipe has recorded as
half
of the acclaimed French house act Motorbass (along with Super Discount's
Etienne De Crecy).

Cassius have spent the last year developing a special live set in which
Zdar's turntables jostle with the sound's of Boombass' sampler. Having
sharpened their skills as the opening act on Daft Punk's UK tour and at
the
"Respect" nights at the Queen club in Paris, Cassius rocked the house at
this summers at PS in New York with a slamming set of funked up house
music
a la francaise.
