totally brilliant
congrats to the Giant Steps crew for putting on yet another great show.
Pier 63 is this completely mental disco boat and pier moored in Chelsea.
I stayed with Sir Norman pretty much all night but there was a sort of hip
hop crows nest going on and then some house beats shivering people timbers
below decks.
Norman was working his own special magic from big crates and a few little
ones - standing there silhouetted by New Jersey it was all a bit special,
man. Great to hear that dum dum dum OOOF/Hall and Oats mix from the JDJ
played live. Finished off with Roy Ayers Love Will Bring Us Back Together
which always makes me want to then hear more classics Mellow Mellow,
Expansions etc.
Some track id from anyone who attended - a very funked up version of the
Feelin Good track from the same titled Luv n Haight comp.
Bumped into Norman on the way out and what a smashing fellow he is: shaking
hands and giving thanks for support - very truly the Peoples Number 1!
I had 20 minutes kip in a plastic chair, got home at 7am, showered, to work,
and things are going downhill fast.
