Newsflash for lovers of jazz and GREAT live music:
Joyous Shout! is proud to announce that legendary jazz drummer and bandleader Chico Hamilton will be performing with his "Euphoria"group, featuring Eric Person on saxes, Cary DeNigris on guitar, and Paul Ramsey on bass, on July 3rd at the John Drew Theater at Guild Hall, 158 Main Street, East Hampton, NY 10016 tel. 516.324.4051 with one set at 7 PM. This appearance comes hot on the heals of Chico¹s performance on the 1999 Bell Atlantic Jazz Festival and after yet another SOLD OUT performance by Chico and his ³Euphoria² group in March at Birdland in NYC, and back in December on the ³Jazz Live!² series from Flushing Town Hall in NYC. January ¹99 kicked off with Chico and his "Euphoria" group performing on the "Jazz En El Tambo" Festival in Uruguay, and on the 35th Anniversary Celebration at the Whiskey A Go Go in LA. Bringing March to an exciting close found Chico recording "Timely", his first album as part of a new multi year recording contract with the All Points Jazz label (a division of Wild Pitch Recor
ds LLC.) to be released September 28th. We are even more proud to announce that Chico received the Mannes/New School "Beacons of Jazz" award on June 7th, the evening before his Bell Atlantic Jazz Festival performance, in recognition for his "significant contribution to the evolution of jazz."
