This weekend in new york-
Andrea Parker at The Anchorage. My first time down there. What a magnificent
venue and used with great imagination by the Creative Time people. Sadly
poor sound system however which rather spoiled Andrea Parkers bangin hip hop
beats. (Straight Outta Compton in Brooklyn - I dunno I might have thrown
some Scott la Rock instead - what do you reckon $mall change??!!)
Over at PS1 for the warm up on Saturday. Good art but just industrial noise
and bleeps for most of the afternoon. I was about to head home as head was a
little fuzzy (see below) but about 8 o'clock I caught sight of a little
bobbing ponytail and white labels heading towards the decks. The lady Parker
doing an unannounced hour to send the Queens crowd home happy. Brilliant
sound there by the way - watch out for future dates there and check the
caterpillar 'installation' at the front desk. Its Animal Magic baby!
Carl Craig and Hugh Masakela in the park Saturday afternoon. I made the
mistake of tucking into the Heinekens a bit swift like. 90 degree heat sent
me into rather a giddy state by about 3 and I managed to sleep through most
of Carl Craig but waking up for the delightful People Make the World Go
Round. Hugh Masakela I've never seen before but a terrific showman. See him
if you ever get the chance.
Summerstage Rules.
