this lauryn hill thread is crazy and leaves me with a few questions?
a. do people judge the fugees and their success based on the radio singles.
well if so you are missing their purpose and message.
b. lauryn hill and her grammy's is a significant improvement, considering the
grammy's are based on mainstream music, and the fact that lauryn is
mainstream
is amazing in it self. she represents hip hops move to pop culture (for
better or worse) and an improvement of the grammy standards...can anyone
honestly tell me they would have rather seem puffy or celine dion with five
grammys
c. although lauryn's album is hip hop dominated, it is broad for a hip hop
album, keep in mind this is her first solo outing. at the very minimum
miseducation represents the beginning of an artist with a long career ahead of
her. although i loved baduizm, there were flaws, and once live rolled
around
i was completly hooked. so watch out for #2. but have you listened to
tracks
like to zion, when it hurts so bad, the miseducation of laryn hill and the
funk
every ghetto every city, ex-factor, nothing even matters (my fave
track!!!!!!!)
d. but the moral of the story....don't judge an artist or cd until you have
listened to their work a few times.......not just the radio singles
