I am working in a club in Spain over the summer playing tunes, and I'm looking to play some new stuff. The city I will be in is Valladolid, and nothing is played appart from Heavy metal, trance, tecnho, happy hardcore and comercial cheese, so I want to introduce some good music for once: (I am fairly new to the scene, but I'm loving it all the way through) Drumm'n'bass, Hip hop, acid jazz, nu house (latin/jazzy/funky House). I have the first three covered, but I'm having trouble finding house music within my tastes that would be accesible or catchy enough to get te attention of newbies (being one myself you can understand why). I'm studyind at essex university and there's not much of a choice I can get here. Before I go to Spain I will visit London for the last time to get my hands on whatever I can, but don't know where the hell to start. I would greatly appreciate if you could give me some advice on records, labels to look for and bands/dj's/producers. I really like stuff like Basement Jaxx (well, there's another thing, because of the techno influence ppl in Valladolid don't like vocals in their dance music), Dimitri From Paris or Cricco Castelli. Just very funky/jazzy party house music. It would be really cool if you could help me out.

About that Dj: artist or not thread, just say that I play records in a club, which makes me into a Dj I like it or not, but it doesn't make me an artist because I'm not creating anything; just using other people's work, but there are some Dj's whose mixes are always good, and always recognisable. For me, if someone gives you a tape of a Dj, you listen to it, and you know who's tape it is, marks the boundaries between the artist Dj and the simple record "ensembleur" (like me). Being a Dj is dead easy; being a good Dj isn't that hard, but being able to do good mixes time after time, following a personal trademark, is an artform.
Un abrazo: James Park
