I used to teach music copyright in college... (hmm, I wonder how many of my
former students are in jail now...) but I find it difficult to believe that
a President's public utterances are copyrightable. Matter of fact, I don't
think a reporter questioning a president in public can have copyright
protection. As a practical matter, CNN or ABC or NBC might bring a suit if
you copied from their broadcast without their consent, but, how would they
know where you got it from? Those things are broadcast on a million
different networks, not to mention some international ones where (like
China) U.S. copyright law barely obtains at all!
Heck, government forms can't even be copyrighted, so, if you're looking for
some license free cover art...
(I'm not a lawyer, just a musician who has inhaled.... so take the above for
what it's worth.)
