Here's the article:

Trouble. You'll hear it; you won't love it, but you'll have to listen to it
again. You will. Then you'll love it and you'll feel like driving slowly,
windows down, volume high because everyone needs to hear it. That's a
statement of fact and this is a pointless article because you'll know about
Spacek soon. Touting their wares for a donkily long time, it took America's
hip hop elite to do the above-mentioned freak before ears in the UK were
bent. Steve Spacek sings. His bass had the implant - shit kicking on the
kit, brain blowing on the mix. Edmund Guitar is supersubtle. They ROCK,
musically and emotionally. The poignancy of dem urban blues wrapped in a
crisp 'I Can't Believe It's Not Drums' shell or a hip hop slam. R'N'B
played with the wrong presets and too much genuine emotion. If you've ever
missed someone, 'Eve' will catch your breath. You've been there. 'I Have a
Daughter Who Sings' is pure uplisft, and even tracks not destined for their
album, such as 'Drive' are just ... gorgeous. Gorgeous. There's something
generous, unselfish about Steve Spaceks's perspective: songs are written
from another's viewpoint yet felt at the core. They don't seem to care
about fashion either: neither fake badbwoy leanings or confusing
chinstrokery here: a slap around the chops for some of the overhyped
CloneWax cobblerz you can find. Spacek's totally satisfying sound developed
the same way he learned how to play: picked up a bass and played, later
found he was playing the bass... wanted to programme sounds and eventually
became a programmer. It's all round, all idiosyncratic, but technically
unbeatable. Mr Zorate's skill helps too. Beauty comes from within and all
that. You know how George Clinton or Lee Perry are darkest when they're
laughing? Well, there's definitely some of that in Spacek.
