Hello

I'm living in Paris.
I love acid jazz but not only, in general all things that have the groove !

I play on fender rhodes but I also love hammond organ.

very important : I hate electric guitar with distortion effect (due to a long exposition in front of a marshall jcm900 amps :) !

My favourite album is a french compilation called The Meltdown / BigCheeseRecords.

I also loved bands like Jamiroquai (in preference order: 1,2,3,4 :) on the last, I just loved the five track (because of the fender rhodes :), the other are too commercial !), DIG, etc..

I heard about Young Disciples but I never listen to theirs.

My vision of Cool Groovy Acid Jazz is :

-Funky ACOUSTIC Drum (hate drum machines) with a big beat like hip-hop stuff
-Groovy Bass (my favorite bass player is Stuart Zender ex-bass player of Jamiroquai. He plays groovy thing with a slap touch)
-Jazzy/Funky Guitar (without distortion, but you know, now :)
-Real Keyboards like Rhodes/Hammond/Clavinet plus a touch of smooth sound of Moog
-Brass section like Maceo Parker playing funky themes or like a good sax player playing a jazz solo.

You know, I've never heard a band who had all this things. My dream is to make a band like this in Paris ! But groovy musician are hard to find.
I found good technical musician but where's the groovy touch. People, play with your soul !

I think that a simple jazzy chord on a fender rhodes dig itself ! You know, no need to put 24 distortion/chorus etc effects on your guitar/bass etc . And no need to take a TR707 to make your move ! NO DRUM MACHINE ALLOWED :)

But I'm not close-minded, I love ambient things (not techno) with electronic sounds but why put on them a BOOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM rythm ?

Oups, I begin to be out of subject I think.

So here I am, I hope that my english is not so bad as my teacher said !

a+

thomas
