I think we forgot what exactly the term "DJ" stands for. It originally stands
for *Disc Jockey*. A record is a disc, and so is a CD (ergo "Compact Disc").
True, turntablism is oriented towards turntables (actually, turtablism is
actually more of a Technics SL-1200 thing; since turntablists never use any
other type of turntable), but when it comes to just playing music, it's the
output that matters.
Simpler? Racing a car is more simpler than racing a horse, but you're still a
racer nonetheless.
To quote the Asian DJ Coalition website FAQ:
"Vinyl vs CD? It doesn't really matter, either format is acceptable with us.
However, if you use tapes, we will laugh at you."
