Alright everybody,
After being seriously shot down, I do see the light in a lot of what you
guys are saying about cd mixing. Yeah, I know, I've done 'em both (no longer
spin...back in the day...sniff sniff), but I guess I'm stuck in a rut, cuz I
still can't give cd mixing the same credit. Maybe it's just the
view/atmosphere that is created on the turntables (uh...see A-Trak, DMC
1997...big up Montreal).
Maybe it varies between music types, cuz I know here, my hip hop friends
have a good laugh at cd djs, no matter what their skill level. Once
again...the atmosphere? GOD DAMN, DOES EVERYTHING COME DOWN TO ATMOSPHERE?
Does the hiphop dj have to be represented one way for credibility? How about
the dood spinning house?
Hmmm...dunno. But anyway, you guys got my tired cranium thinking...
Oh, and as for Keoki...saw him a couple of years ago in TO, and he's more
than just atmosphere...that kid tore shit up!!! If you're ever in Montreal
and want to see a dj who is not about atmosphere at all, check out dj
Christian Farley (I swear that's his name). Pure talent, looks like he could
use a couple of showers...still sets the roof afire.
Gotta go.
