I recently picked up the "Run Lola Run" soundtrack and it is a great
package. Its set up with "Believe" the first track, being the theme of the
movie. The next group of tracks are from the soundtrack (the main section
of action in the movie occurs in 20 min which the tracks approximate.)
Then the last tracks on the disc are remixes of the original soundtrack
tracks. Pretty cool idea. And a great Flick.
Also, I've now got all three "Hackers" 'soundtracks'. And they do have
some good tunes. The first one starts off with K & D 'Original Bedroom
Rockers" and includes stuff by Underworld, Leftield, The Prodigy, Orbital,
Moby and others. The second disk has Moby's "Go" (got a remix on vinyl,
but, haven't heard the original track much.) And the last disk acutally
includes part of the score. The second and third discs are of the "Music
inspired and from..." type, but, for me it's good to get the exposure.
Have to say that Orbital's 'Halcyon On & On" is now a favorite track.
And, lastly, I got "The Matrix" DVD, and there are some really cool extra
features on the disc. Mostly there the behind the scenes about all the FX,
but, there's a option to play just the music along with occasional
commentary from the composer. I watched it for a while and it's really
interesting. He talks about not using lots of themes for the characters,
and post-modern musical 'conventions' and why he does some more
conventional orchestration as a reaction to that movement--a must for
hearing how a soundtrack goes together and much of how the process works.
