ABOUT APRIL'S FEATURED POETESS:
Sunni K. Patterson is a native of New Orleans, LA and is currently a third
year English major at the historic Tuskegee University. She is in the
process of completing her debut spoken word CD, "Sunni Nights." The album
consists of Sunni's laid back flow and prolific verbal imagery, accompanied
by eclectic musical sounds from her band. Sunni can be found building with
Vibes & Verses Poetry Society on Wednesday nights for Poetry Night at The
Rose in Montgomery.
ABOUT APRIL'S FEATURED MUSICAL ACT:
SolKonfiscation cannot be trapped in any one musical genre, as they are
constantly evolving through sonic experimentation with Jazz, Funk, Soul,
Blues, Hip-Hop and R&B to take the audience on an eclectic journey into
"musiclifespiritpartyvibe." SolKonfiscation is the sound of the Wednesday
Night Elevation at Atlanta's Yin Yang Music Café, and can also be found
grooving in the Poetry Suite at FunkJazz Kafé.

Arts Organizer, THE SEVENTH SUN - author of "Full Mental Jacket"

* a performance narrative by Dr. Anthony "Tony" Bolden, Professor of
English & African-American Studies at The University of Alabama
Brief Bio on Tony:
Born and raised in San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area, Tony later spent his
young adult life in New Orleans. While there he obtained a BA in English
from Dillard U. and participated in a Black writers workshop called Congo
Square Writers Union, lead by Tom Dent and Kalamu ya Salaam. Tony later
went on to receive an MA in Afro-American Studies from the University of
Iowa and a PhD from Louisiana State U. with a Dissertation on
African-American poetry and the history of Black song and folklore. Tony
has had his works published in "Obsidian," a literary journal, and "Word Up:
Black Poets of the 80s from the Deep South," an anthology of poetry edited
by Kalamu ya Salaam. Tony's performances are a blend of several genre's
including poetry, autobiography, fiction, drama and folklore.
Tony's Promise:
"If (the People) come and listen, they can be sure that they've never heard
anything like it before, though in a way they've been hearing it all their
lives but weren't conscious of what it meant."
