in a month when i decided to take it easy on the vinyl to fund the purchase
of a new sampler, there's just been too much good music coming out. here's
what was doing it for me on saturday night:
kimbu kimra - raise the dead (mantis)
lovely late night deep house vibes from the derby crew. highly recommended.
c&m productions ft. marcel - true house (eddie amador rmx) (deeptouch)
can't help feeling that the "this is true house music" etc. vocals are just
preaching to the converted, but the driving percussion and african chants
that comes in halfway through the track win me over.
underwolves - so blue it's black (restless soul rmx) (blue)
i quite liked the peshay mix, but this one's the business.
various artists - jazz in the house: the spring collection (slip'n'slide)
turns out that i already had most of the tracks on this compilation, but
there's no harm in having two copies of stuff like blaze's wishing you were
here, and lego's el ritmo de verdad. but it's guiro's free with the angela
johnson's gorgeous vocals that makes this an essential purchase.
projections - hid mi hnd (subtitled)
dark downtempo business with a dub flavour from this guidance affiliated
label.
santessa - eyes on you (disco volante)
even better than phased. the major mix is my favourite, while 4 hero's take
adds some nice strings.
on the uk hiphop tip, quite enjoying dj fingers robot's rebellion album
sampler, harry love's lyrical behaviour & stereo mc's dj kicks comp.
