Yes, that's true. However, I have noticed in the last few years that the
influence on the net and better magazines have brought underground music
to a closer level to the people who never got too close to it before.
That means the gap between the two dj parties are getting closer and
closer.
I have noticed that my stock in my record shop is getting similar to
Straight No Chaser magazine top ten lists since distributors and the like
are following what these underground djs play, thus making the hard to
find stuff more accessable to everyone. As well, the crowd is getting
more open minded and thus like underground stuff as well as Basement
Jaxx.
Note that I am in HongKong and might have a different angle at looking
into things. I know in US and UK there are too many commercial djs. We
have had Oakenfold play here, and it was really really bad. Don't get me
wrong, I was there cos we played in the back room, where the real vibe
was happening!
Oh, Jazzman records enquiry. I have at least four different titles still
in my shop whoever wants it, plus an LP soon to be released. Don't forget
MOTON records is just as cool!
