I know this is off-topic, but,
Good lord, I hope this gets shot down in court.
Quote from Metallica's lawyer:
"This lawsuit leaves open the potential for students who have
participated in copyright infringement to be found, and there is a
desire to find them," King said. "MP3 songs of Metallica are
subject to be seized from students to return to them, so we may
ask courts for a mechanism to find those who have downloaded
Metallica and the right to get those back."
"We don't know how realistic it will be, but we will see what we
will find out when we go through the Napster files to see if we
can find the people who have downloaded them, and if we can
then we will go after them."
What kind of fascist crap is that? As if they are "getting back"
something that has been taken from them. I believe that they should
start confiscating walkmen and md players on sight in said campuses.
They are holding the university responsible for the actions of its
network's users... Didn't we absolve ISPs of the legal responsibility
for their users years ago?
