heya fellow listees,
Well, I fell wayyy behind. Life, love, work 'n travelling got in the way of
my getting playlists out on time. A number of listeners, labels and a few
of you have requested the backlogged lists though, so I'm passing it along
as my first contribution here in weeks. March 27th, the Public Transit crew
did the show while I was out of town so there is no list. April 10 and 17th
coming shortly. Hope that some of you enjoy it. Cheers to great music.

ALBUM OF THE WEEK: Asian Travels on Six Degrees. This compilation covers a
fair bit of turf, bringing together a number of old-school, much loved
Indian musicians such as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Shankar and Najma with
leaders of the new school, Fun Da Mental and Kingsuk Biswas amongst them -
plus other producers influenced by Asian sounds, including Cheb i Sabbah,
and Fila Brazilia. Fusion is definitely a key word here, and it's pulled
off nicely with a solid track selection.
GUESTS: Members of Toronto's Camarillo. Evolving from a jazz trio to a
semi-freefloating collective of musicians who improvise live and create
didgeridoo-led ambient electronics and jazzy drum & bass, Camarillo are
unique, to say the least.

ALBUM OF THE WEEK: Jolly Mukherjee's excellent new Fusebox (Palm
Pictures). Mukherjee is an incredibly talented Indian string composer and
arranger who has created music for umpteen Bollywood films, and worked with
producers and talents such as Talvin Singh, Bjørk, Badmarsh and Shri, and
the Underwolves. Needless to say, the strings are stellar on the album, but
what's amazing is how beautifully it flows while so much musical terrain is
covered. Mukherjee and his Madras Cinematic Orchestra handed over their
music to producers including the Underwolves, Badmarsh and Shri, State of
Bengal, and Madras Magician with some incredible results.
