One of the clubs in Toronto has camera's above the turntables, but they're
stationary.. I thought of a revolving camera as well.. It really wouldn't
be hard to make either, you'd just need a motor spinning at either 33 or 45
(ie get another crappy turntable and mount it upside down, with the camera
attached to it) and modify the RCA cables so they contact some kind of
stationary conductive circular ring at all times (similar to those phone
cord detanglers).. Then you could probably get the image to run through some
type of Optical Character Recognition program which then takes the
information and prints it onto a screen and then connects to the internet
and searches GEMM or some other music database and then allows you to enter
your credit card information and purchase said record.. If, however, the
record cannot be found, it posts a message to the Acid-Jazz mailing list and
says "Does anybody know any information about this record, or know where I
can find it?", along with a music clip of the record, of course..
