    hi everyone,

Big thanks going out to everyone who supported and came out to SOULAR last
Saturday for our co-presentation with Public Transit Recordings of LAL's
video release event for "Corners." If you weren't there, you missed a truly
beautiful performance by LAL, with the band capturing the crowd's attention
to the point of their sitting on the floor, absorbing, and cheering! Watch
for more great things to come from LAL in the near future.

Don't forget, SOULAR system takes place at the funky 'n fantastique B-Side
danceclub (above Fez Batik, 129 Peter St., enter from Richmond), with
myself and Sassa'le as residents. We drop a healthy blend of all things
dubbed out and jazzy - deep house, beats, breaks, UK Garage and much more -
and totally love the crowds we've been getting out. Open ears and minds,
and dancing bodies totally warm an eclectic DJ's heart. :-) Thanks for the
support - and do check us on the regular.

Here's the guests we have coming up:

This SATURDAY AUG. 5: Toronto's own ABACUS (a.k.a. Guidance Recordings
artist A:XUS) steps into the booth. Come hear sweet, sexy house mixed by a
man who knows. Check his 'Soundtrack for Life' album, featuring vocalists
such as Naomi Nsombi (as heard on a forthcoming Ron Trent track), LAL's
Rosina, Bratticus aka Esthero, and others. ABACUS can frequently be found
playing for dancefloors across the U.S. and Europe, but doesn't bless
Toronto floors with his vibe as often as we'd love to hear. $7 at the door.

** We are able to invite the first twenty of you plus a friend to be our
guests for this event. The first 20 people to email Sassa'le
<version_xcursion@hotmail.com> by NOON on SATURDAY, requesting inclusion on
our list shall be welcomed with open arms and a waived cover.**

    Also...

SAT. AUG. 12: NYC's infamous DERRIK FOXX, internationally respected for his
gigs at venues such as the original Sound Factory and Café Con Leche, joins
us to spin, in his words, 'Electric garage with Classic and Chicago house.'
He is currently touring throughout North, South and Central Americas, is
putting the finishing touches on his debut ful-length, and hits Toronto to
celebrate his birthday. Given that his previous gigs here have been at
venues such as the Guvernment, Industry, Joy, and the Living Room, it's an
honour to host Derrik and his talent in a more intimate room.

SAT. AUG. 19: World Domination recording artists CODEX will perform fresh,
original drum & bass and breakbeat material LIVE. Peak into their future as
they bring us brand new material, destined for album number two.

SAT. AUG. 26: DJ & vocalist STACH will step into the booth. As the
frontperson for Maxelle, Stach offers lovely, focussed, and pointed stream
of consciousness lyrics, usually sung in her native Français. As a DJ, she
co-hosts the progressive hip hop show 'Droppin' Dimes' on CKLN, and can be
found in clubs mixing beats 'n pieces alongside Brazilian and deep house
    gems. This girl is special!

Cover is only $7 at the door for each of the above nights. Hope to see you out!

Thanks once again for your interest and support. As always, if you'd prefer
not to be on this list, just let me know and off ye shall go. Ciao for now.
