Hey there everyone,
Welcome aboard to all those new to this little e-list, by which Sassaíle
and I keep you posted about our ongoing and special events. Because Iím
just switching everything over to a new computer, and because there are
so many new people joining this list, you may find that you receive two
copies of this particular update; rest assured that Iím sorting through
the lists, weeding out duplicates, correcting names and all that good
stuff. Itíll be sorted in no time!
Also, please update your address books to list this as my current e
address. The tommygrl@interlog.com addy is being put to rest, sad but
true.
Alrighty, on with the showÖ.
SOULAR system is the newest project that Sassa and I have on the go. You
can find he and I DJíing together every Saturday night at B-Side, the
danceclub above Fez Batik at 129 Peter (enter off of Richmond and go
upstairs). We drop a wide mix of soulful, bass-heavy grooves ? from
downtempo and dub to deep house, beats, breaks and UK Garage. Eclectic,
electric, funky ën fresh, itís dance music for the mind, body, and soul.
People with wide-open ears and a taste for musical adventure have been
known to get down, all night long. J
This SATURDAY AUGUST 19, block-rockiní drum & bass / breakbeat duo CODEX
perform LIVE. These local boys, Luca Hiroyuki díAddario and Scott
Keenan, released a critically acclaimed full-length on LA-based World
Domination Recordings; have performed across North America, remixed the
likes of Esthero, and can be heard on your TV screen many times weekly
as they provide the theme music to numerous City TV programs. Theyíve
been keeping a lower profile over the past year while working on their
second album. This evening, they join us at SOULAR system to perform
brand new material. Come out, support, and hear what their future holds.
CODEX performs LIVE at midnight, with Sassa and I mixing it up before
and after. $7 at the door.
** The first five people to e me back before midnight Friday will be
added to our guest list, including you and a friend.
** Weíre also happy to offer a little discount to all those on this list
who e back before noon on SaturdayÖ.let me know that youíll be joining
us, and youíll be on the ëfriendí list, paying $5 at the door rather
than $7.
SATURDAY AUGUST 26: DJ and vocalist extraordinaire STACH guests
alongside Sassaíle and I. You may know Stach as the hip hop DJ and
co-host of CKLNís ëDroppiní Dimesí show, or perhaps for her wicked
mixing of deep house and Brazilian flavours. Still others know her as
the vocalist and frontwoman of MAXELLE, whose "French Connection" has
been blowing up all over this cityís top underground radio shows. The
woman has mad, mad talent. Come out and recognize. $7 at the door.

forces with Izzi Boutique and the Mettle gang to throw one big,
