    VALLEJO MOVES "INTO THE NEW"
WITH A NEW ALBUM ON A NEW LABEL
Austin's Forthcoming Disc "Into The New"

A striking blend of modern rock grooves, potent guitar work and Latin percussion, the music of Vallejo has earned the Austin, Texas band a formidable live reputation and the title of Best Rock Band in this year’s Austin Music Awards.

Now Vallejo has signed a new recording agreement with Crescent Moon Records, the label founded by famed producer/entrepreneur Emilio Estefan, Jr. as a joint venture with Sony Music Entertainment. The band is led by the three Vallejo brothers: the twins A.J. (vocals, lead guitar) and Alejandro (drums), and Omar (bass).

The album’s twelve songs—with influences ranging from alternative rock to hip-hop—include “Into The New,” with its driving rhythms and unforgettable chorus; and "Classico,” a showcase for A.J. Vallejo’s lead guitar work and the band’s superb rhythm section. “El Matador” is a powerhouse instrumental, which builds from its opening trumpet fanfare to a surging guitar-and-percussion workout in classic jam-band style. The tough-minded contemporary protest song, “Modern Day Slave,” features an incendiary guest rap by Austin’s MC Overlord.

"Vallejo is a melting pot of all the great music and bands that have influenced us in our lifetime," says A.J. who, with his brothers, formed the group as The Vallejo Brothers in 1990, when all three were still in high school in Birmingham. As Vallejo, they added high school friend Bruce Castleberry on guitar and later enlisted James "Diego" Simmons on percussion.

With Austin (the self-proclaimed "Live Music Capital of the World") as their new headquarters, Vallejo began touring relentlessly as both headliners and as support to Los Lobos, Blues Traveler, Collective Soul and many more. Their album Beautiful Life was released in 1998 by TVT Records. Produced by Vallejo and Neil King, Beautiful Life featured several remixes by former Beastie Boys DJ Hurricane. In February 1999, guitarist Heath Clark was added to the lineup, making his debut appearance with the band at Antone's in Austin. In March 2000, Vallejo was voted Best Rock Band in the prestigious Austin Music Awards.

"Other bands would have broken up if they had to go through everything that we've been through," reflects Alejandro Vallejo. "Most bands don't even last 10 years."

"I think that being brothers is a real advantage in this. Sure, we've gotten into a few fights here and there, but we're all in the same boat. We're doing this together. The bond between us will weather anything."
