>I'm not sure what track "Black Lotus" is from, but if you dig Laswell
indian-style, you simply have to buy "Tabla Beat Science" on the Axiom
>label. I've spoken about it before, and I still feel as strongly about it 3-4 months after purchase. Laswell vs.the tabla vs. electronica, brilliantly concieved and easily as powerful as anything I've heard this year. This one's definitely making my top 10 list of the year (next week)<
It is on my Top 10 list of the year (click to http://uwu.8m.com/ExtraThoughts/uetas31.htm for the rest of the stuff).
May I recommend another album of similar interest. It's by a lady who goes by the name of Suphala, and her debut album is along the lines of Tabla Beat Matrix. It's called INSTRU MENTAL, which features Vernon Reid on one song. Suphala studied the tabla for many years, and she wanted to expand on her tabla playing, thus the album. You can find it at suphala.com, where you can read up on her bio. Two tracks are also of a hip hop nature, coming off like an authentic version (!) of the Bombay The Hard Way soundtrack.
