I used to work for Marketplace and every once in a while we would play something like that on the show. I even got them to do an independent hip-hop story a couple years ago where they interviewed Jurassic 5 and the Beat Junkies.
They do try hard to make the show a bit more interesting than most business news shows. Not everybody in public radio is focused on Irish folk music and Garrison Keiller.
peace and Happy New Year.

Subject: St. Germain on NPR. ;) (and best of)
Hehehe, you know you've made it when you're a clip on
public radio. Last night on "Marketplace", that show
from Public Radio Int'l about what the world markets
are doing and whatnot, there was an awfully familiar
sleepy little trip hop lick and after a second I
realized it was St. Germain.
Not only that, but the idoits who live downstairs from
me who blast bad hiphop (glob gla glob WHAT blah blah
blah WHAT da doo doo WHAT like hearing-impaired
cavemen questioning each other incredulously..hip hop
is *really bad* when all you can hear is muffled bass
and "WHAT") all day from 9am to 10 at night so loud I
can feel the vibrations in my feet and my computer
rattles, then at their nightly party they laugh like
banshees with down's syndrome, well, those guys were
playing St. Germain the other day, too. Pretty
impressive. They get my vote for the year's most
accessible but high-quality album. St Germain, not
the guys downstairs. Eric Truffaz gets my vote for
the "oh, so that's they way it ought to be....damn..."
and Neon Phusion gets best album. Hmm, was that 200
or late 1999? Best comp "Co-Operation". Person for
whom I discovered the highest number of hithertofore
unbeknownst to me nomes de plume, I think has got to
be Dego. ?Y que mas? ah, so much good stuff I
hesitate to mention more for fear of leaving something
out. This was a stellar year for me in lots of ways,
least of all musically. New year's res? Now that
it's there, make more time to enjoy it!
