Has anyone heard the new 3lp by Smith&Mighty? How does it compare to
earlier work and as they are being hyped as the godfathers of the Bristol
sound and the missing link between Portishead and Lee Perry how does it
stand up to this standard? :)

Got a early copy of this one, I think it's a great record but not quite as
seminal as Portishead's "Dummy" or Massive's "Blue Lines." The production
on most of the tracks is superb, deep dubbed-out d'n'b rhythms and echoing
fx. But the vocals on most of the tracks just didn't do it for me. Some
were OK, but others just sounded sub-par compared to the production
standards - I think a lot of the vocalists featured were their friends from
Bristol, etc? and they just don't seem up to the Smith and Mighty standard.
Would love to get an instrumental version of this record though, the beats
are dope. My opinion...Brock
