He's actually got a collaboration coming out soon as Deltron 2000, it's Del
along with Dan the Automator and Kid Koala, which sounds pretty fresh. It's
s'posed to be out on 75 Ark, a NYC hip-hop imprint that's just started up -
a couple of the people that used to be involved with Asphodel (DJ Spooky,
We, Byzar, etc) are behind this label.
Everything I've heard from 75 Ark so far has been dope in the leftfield
hip-hop range - Anti-Pop Consortium full-length (worked w/ DJ Vadim on the
Isolationist project), and 12"s from some other people I can't recall off
the top of my dome. Best thing about 75 Ark is that they're reissuing a
bunch of the early Dr. Octagon stuff which originally came out on MoWax and
is now hard as fuck to find! I think the whole connection there is that Dan
the Automator has rights to a lot of the Octagon music, and he's in there
with 75 Ark, so that explains it.
Also keep a lookout for Ozone, another new NYC label that's doing really
interesting hip-hop - the new Mike Ladd album they're s'posed to put out is
some interplanetary hip-hop weirdness, almost breaks down into free jazz at
points! All worth keeping an eye out for...Brock
