While I understand opinions are like assholes I was pretty sure it was a
consenus that D'angelos album was pretty dope, I guess I was wrong. But I
offer this question to the detractors- How many R&B Albums have come out
with not only originally Written Music, but very original arrangements as
well? The answer is none. D'angelo's Voodoo is probably one of the best
albums I have ever walked through a snowstorm to get! From beginning to
end. It is a classic in my eyes. What were people expecting to give it
such bad reviews, and what the hell can you compare it to? Look at the
liner notes alone! For this list to be full of acid-jazz as well as
(presumably) Jazz lovers no one yet has mentioned the bass and horn
arrangements and how well they were done as well as what great jazz men
helped do it (yea so it's a trivia question, answer it get a prize)? Finally
with all the bs that's out how did you let yourself take D'angelo back to
the store what did you pick up instead? Just Curious?
peace
Ralph Cooper
