    Linux really isn't a good platform for multimedia. If you want a non-Mac,
    non-Windows
    environment for MIDI, audio, video or any other multimedia, the best bet seems
    to be
    BeOS. A lot of the major audio/MIDI software manufacturers (Steinberg, Emagic,
    Digidesign) are starting to look into that platform.
