Keyser & Shuriken - Newsletter #11: No plastic bag please/The old lady whispered me /It's time to revolt
(Brought to you weekly with the kind support of Jah, the almighty and the evil Gorilla.)
Newsflash 28.02.2000
Dear friends,
You might have missed our newsletter last week, but we had a reason not to write it. Or to put it a better way we had no reason to write it. Cause nothing was happening really. But this time we got ourselves together to drop a few lines to you, just that you know we're still alive and kickin'.
Yeah anyway. two good things have happened us this week.
1) We have received the freshest white label from Sonar Kollektiv (Anthony Nicholson - Voodoo Jazz Rapture. Awesome!). It's nice to know that Jurgen from Jazzanova keeps us in mind after his dj-gig in Budapest. Big shout to him and his friends in Berlin!
2) Spring finally seems to hit the town, so you hear the birds singing and you don't need to dress like a polar bear when you leave home.
This weeks fine reading comes from the script of Fight Club (Shuriken's hooked on that movie real bad). It's about finding a normal way of life in a twisted world... or vice versa:
"JACK (voice over): I became the calm, little center of the world. I was the Zen master.
CLOSE UP - COMPUTER MONITOR.
Haiku is BEING TYPED in a trendy, italicized font.
"Worker bees can leave
Even drones can fly away
The queen is their slave"
JACK (V.O.): I wrote little haiku poems.
INT. JACK'S OFFICE - DAY
Jack's clothes are PERMANENTLY STAINED with BLOOD. He sits in Zen pose, cigarette in mouth, finishes typing Haiku.
JACK (V.O.): I faxed them around to everyone.
He hits "SEND," gets the "ERROR CHIME" SOUND. He presses this key over and over. Boss enters.
BOSS: Is that your blood?
JACK: Some of it, yes.
Boss stares at Jack like he's from Mars.
BOSS: Take the rest of the day off. Come back tomorrow with clean clothes. Get yourself together."
Keep seeing things differently till next week!
