If you've been experimenting with deep/ tech house like i've been
lately, you're sure to come across Herbert and his Phono label. My god,
this shit is out there. I love it. The first time I heard I:Cube I felt
that way in '97. Now it's been a year making myself familiar w/ Mr.
Matthew Herbert. This guys a genius. The way he manipulates sounds,
textures, and rhythms like Picasso painted, abstract! I just got Phono's
comp (on vinyl), The "beginning of the end" and there is angular bleepy
tech house (Herbert) to underwater deep house (Freaks- Luke Solomon) to
some breakbeat (Micronauts). I suggest you deeper, more experimental
house dj's buy this stuff.
Is there anything else out there along the same lines. I'd like
to here it. BTW Still caning the Roando's "Night of the Jaguar". Are
you?
It's the song of 2000. The shit about Sony cloning that tune, because
Underground Resistance didn't want to give it up is ridiculous.
Rolando's version is way so much better. I hear Sony's Jaguar cover and
it sounds like some weak progressive house/ trance bullshit. So if you
all know the deal, make some noize against Big Labels like Sony that ar
poisoning the underground!!! Blech!
