Know I'm a bit late on this, but names Jim Dier aka $mall ¢hange, chillin'
in Paterson aka Silk City, NJ, been doing radio on WFMU and downtown NYC
club gigs for over five years, collecting wax for double that. Was into
jazz and funk since the late eighties, probably my first 'acid jazz' rekkid
was UFO's first full lenght, 'round 93 I think. I still give them much
props.

Spent new years in Perth Australia (wassup Gareth!) and checked out a few
things, one of them was this group Rhibosome, a live three piece
'electronica' (despise that term, but...) act. Quite dope. Turntables,
sampler/mixing board, trap drums and latin percussion, with everybody
switching around for different songs. They can all scratch, play drums, and
work the mixer. Very funky shit, from downtempo to drum n' bass, house and
breaks. Definitely look out for them, they have some stuff on Off World?
recordings. There wax is cool but doesn't quite measure up to the live
show.

also got this forwarded from somebody at WFMU...
