And don't overlook Patricia Barber, IMHO one of the finest jazz singers out

Her album MODERN COOL is a classic.

Thanks much for the props. With the "album of the week" I do try to call
attention to what I think is the best album I've heard in the last seven
days. But it's not a definitive list, by any means. Sometimes it takes me
a while to warm up to a really great record (e.g., Breakbeat Era), sometimes
the "second best" album of the week gets buried, and sometimes there is
simply not a lot to pick from on a given week. So don't take my "album of
the week" selection TOO seriously. ;-)
