I am coming into the discussion late so pardon me if I'm reiterating things that have been said.
Armand is an unintentional joke, a frustrated hip hopper who can't make decent hip hop (who was really feeling Sampleslaya?), so he makes dance music until he can perfect his beats. In other words, he's a 2000 version of Todd Terry, but apparently without Terry's knowledge or (grudging) respect for house music.
That said, AVH has had some moments... but I find his constant rants against dance music to be invalidated by his reliance on it to make the rent...
