Saw DJ Spinna for the first time last night and I've just gotta say that
after seeing him perform, I realize just how much other DJ's suck.. He
definitely knows how to rock a party, and even though few turned out for the
event (possibly because it was on the more expensive side), he still gave it
his all and didn't hold back.. At first he started with some "contemporary
hip hop", KRS-ONE, old tribe, de la, Gangstarr, Rakim, EPMD, LONS and the
sort and then moved on to some breaks and b-boy favourites (Apache, Liquid
Liquid - Cavern, Brentford All Stars - Greedy G and a shitload more that I
couldn't even ID) and then he brought out the funky 45's and starting
tearing shit up! I haven't boogied that hard in a long time, and every song
he played was an absolute monster.. Not only was his music selection tight,
but also the way in which he scratched, cut and mixed the tracks together
was perfect. If any of you get the chance to see this man, don't pass up
the opportunity, your ass will thank you for it!
