Keyser & Shuriken - newsletter #26: So that the frigid may feel the funk!

    Newsflash 14.07.2000

    Dear Friends,

Busy (or just lazy) as ever we have skipped a week again, but you know how it is. Our excuse for last week is that we have skipped our radio show, because we spent the weekend at an incredible "beach" party by the Orfu lakes, in the South of Hungary. The weather was splendid, and our local friends' (dj Bodoo, Cop! & co.) hospitality seemed endless!

Anyway, now we have some fine news. According to the compost site (www.compost-rec.com), one of Shuriken's tracks (Psyked Up Muzak) has made it even to the 12" taster of the Future Sound of Jazz vol. 7 compilation (should be out soon)! We have also started working on our first EP together along with some remixes for Yonderboi (the 19 years old Hungarian lounge/downtempo wunderkind who is now getting the worldwide recognition he deserves). Shuriken is currently hanging around at jazz and flamenco gigs to meet musicians who might be open to future co-operation. The dates for our autumn dj gigs in Europe also start to take shape.

This weeks reading is essential for all you funk junkies:

    The Exclamation of Funkatation

I promise to do my duty
For Ucle Jam and my booty.
And then, in the face of the enemy
    to protect the groove...
    that we hold so dear!
    To hold said the groove
    'til crystal clear!
So that the blind may see,
    and the deaf may hear!
    So that the frigid
    may feel the funk!
    I promise to get off
    my booty...
    to avoid the rust...
    and live the motto:
    "In funk we trust!"
