list -- before i become the black sheep, i think a little word of
self-defense is in order....
i FULLY agree with the point dirk made and stand by it *as much as
possible*. to give you an idea of where i'm coming from, i'm a 20-year
old student who currently6 lives and works in new york city to stockpile
some money to put towards my $25 000 per annum tuition bill. as is, i put
almost all of my disposable income into music (bear in mind that i DO live
in new york, and just being here is expensive....) and have a massive
collection of records and cds. music is my passion. the last thing i
want to see is progressive, envelope-pushing independent labels go belly
up.
i put forth the inquiry because this music is what keeps me sane, and i
just simply don't have the income at the moment to be everything i want to
hear. every weekend i come home with a record bag full of newq
goodies....the way i see it the occasional free/trade doesn't seriously
affect my personal contribution to independent music, and on the converse
it does worlds for my musical spirit.
which, i hardly need to remind you, is the purpose these records are on
the shelf in the first place.
i hope this doesn't cause *another* off-subject dialectic on the music
biz......
