Keyser & Shuriken - newsletter #27: This is your baby
Newsflash 19.07.2000
Dear Friends,
Today we are heading again to Vienna, where we will master the Csoko Matiné
remix, that we did for the lovely Twentysomething Tunes guys. We will also
visit the ultimate Meierei, where Alex Dallas from Earth Bound and our
friend, Tom Wieland (from Les Gammas crew) will blow everyone's head with
the finest selection of nu jazz.
On Wednesday we were invited to the best Hungarian internet radio called
Para Radio, where we spoke a lot about the (rather short) history of the
Keyser & Shuriken project, our roots and our future plans - listen to it if
you have good skills in Hungarian language :). Afterwards we played a
one-and-a-half hours set of our recent favourites.
We are proud and thankful that we are invited to the world-known Into
Somethin' Club (http://www.intosomethin.com) in Munich (20.10), and to
Bogaloo (http://www.bogaloo.de) in Pfarrkirchen (the base of the Spinning
Wheel djs). We will also play a set in Vienna on 20.8 in Soulsugar. More
dates later...
This month's reading (from an interview by jazz funk legend Les McCann) is
soul food for studio addicts:
"McCann: I hooked up two 16 tracks so we could play them at the same time,
and then not long after that they came up with the 32 tracks on one
machine.
Cosmik: So that was very pioneering studio work. As you've developed, how
much has the studio become another instrument.
McCann: That's the only way I can get my stuff out into the world. The
studio, in the beginning, was intimidating. Frightening. But then you
learn, after a few years, that this is your baby as well as everything
else. I just built my own studio lately, and I'm totally in love with it.
I've got tons of stuff that, if I ever found a record company brave enough
to put this stuff out, you'd be seeing some unbelievably wild stuff."
