    weekly chart - 12 June 2000

1 St Germain, Rose Rouge - Blue Note
Nervous repetitive and envouting jazz tune. Just astounding.

2 (NEW) Luke Vibert & BJ Cole, Spring Collection - Cooking Vinyl
Metrophonics’ double-bassed remix stands above the rest.

3 Silent Poets, Someday - Yellow prod.
Soulful R’n’B hip-hop from Japan greatly remixed.

4 (NEW) Public Enemy, Poison Remixes - Pias
When top producers meet hip hop legend, it’s a sonic pleasure.

5 Big Bang, Dribbling - Far Out
“Colours” has a Latin cadence with Jazz sax & drums and trip-hop sound
    effects... superb.

6 (NEW) Eardrum, Last Light Remixes Vol1 - Leaf
Ashley Beedle and Sofa Surfers get it right.

7 (NEW) De La Soul f. Redman, Oooh - Tommy Boy
Slow motion tune with great samples... as expected with DLS.

8 Gotan Project, Triptico - Ya Basta
Fasten your seat belt: Deep house with North African percussions with tango
Accordion with Flamenco guitar with Brazilian beats with Jazz piano solo
with gipsy violin... 8 minutes of pure pleasure.

9 Mustang, Give a Little Love - Main Squeeze
Fast upbeat breakbeat Jazz tempo contrasting with smooth soulful vocals by
    Vanessa Freeman.

10 (NEW) Bronx Dogs, Three Legged Funk - Heavenly
“Tribute to Jazzy Jay” is an excellent floor filler disco track.

11 Bossa Tres...Jazz, Limbo experience - Yellow prod.
Originally, a great and strange melody. Here smartly remixed by Tom y Joyce
    and Rollercone.

12 People Under The Stairs, The Cat - Om records
Smooth, funky, positive and un-macho hip hop... so rare.

13 (NEW) Morcheeba, In The Hands of The Gods - eastwest
Morcheeba goes electro rap and it works.

14 Ugly Duckling, I Did It Like This - Bad Magic
Talent and diversity in the art of sampling .

15 George Benson, The Ghetto - GRP
A sparkling production combined with the famous Benson’s vocals
    merging into his guitar solo.

16 (NEW) Plaid, Trainer Sampler - Warp
Thanks to latin rhythms, Plaid discovers happiness.

17 Mark de Clive-Lowe, Six Degrees - Universal
    Jazz+hip-hop+house+Latin= remarkable groovy sonic stew.

18 Black Science Orchestra, Soul Power Music - Afro Art T.
House meets Disco meets Afro Beats meets Techno... but my favourite are the
    two downbeat tracks.

19 Cultural Mambo, Docking - Nuphonic
Groovy Deep House as we like it.

20 Soldiers of Twilight, Take U There - Serial
The dub version is a great deep house production with garage bassline and
    vocals.
