Hi,
Sorry if this queston is uninteresting and off topic
in an acid jazz sense, but I figured some people out
there would have some feedback.
Please just email me back directly at

save others in the group from having to delete
replies.
Now to it....
I'm considering replacing my PC system with a laptop
(either Mac or PC), to be primarily used for music
production (pro rather than hobby). I currently run a
Pentium II, 64 meg ram, 4+8 gig rom and will want no
less than that, probably more like a P3, 128 meg ram,
12+ gig etc (or Mac equivalent or better). Programs I
will want to continue to use will be Acid, Cool Edit
Pro, Cubase VST and a few others, plus I'll probably
want to add Gigasampler into my setup and various
additonal programs (I'm from the old school of syncing
and triggering synths and drum machines, so this is a
fairly new way of working for me).
These are some of the questions I have. Sorry so many
but my research to date has been frustrating and not
terribly helpful:
1) What are some of the setups some of you out there
are using for this type of application (processor,
memory, programs, soundcards, etc.)? And price
breakdown too if you don't mind.
2) How do soundcards for laptops work as far as
multiple analog outputs? Do some come with peripheral
attachments that allow you to split things up, or is
this not even an option? What brands are available
and which ones are good (I'm personally fond of the
Event line)?
3) How do I get my MIDI synced into all this?
4) Are there good, reliable, honest and well priced
places online where laptops set up for music
production can be purchased (ie packages put together
on your specs)? Other recommendations for places to
purchase from?
5) Any other tips?
Thanks for your time & help.
Regards,
Todd
