Incorrect, mostly. Just about all MD recorders have digital in but barely
any have digital out -- NO portable unit has digital out <insert big frown
icon here>. And this is an optical connection, which only some soundcards
support.
This sucks, because I was planning to buy a portable MD to be a sampling
tool, a low-cost alternative to a DAT, and need a digital output to spit
the sound into my computer for editing and later convert to samples for my
sampler. The only MDs that do have digital out are certain deck units.
