Those "mini" rough guides are pretty disappointing, I agree. Their reggae
guide and the newly-revised world music guides are pretty impressive,
    though.

Yes, I am a BIG Hal Willner fan all the way back to his Nino Rota tribute
album in 80's! He has impeccable taste and a real knack for bringing
divergent artists together to work on his projects. Just a quick rundown
    of some of them:

AMARCORD NINO ROTA (tribute to Nina Rota, composer for Frederico Fellini)
THAT'S THE WAY I FEEL NOW (tribute to Thelonious Monk)
WEIRD NIGHTMARE (tribute to Charles Mingus)
LOST IN THE STARS (tribute to Kurt Weill)
STAY AWAKE (Walt Disney soundtrack covers)
CLOSED ON ACCOUNT OF RABIES (Edgar Allen Poe stories/poems)

If you liked WHOOPS...might I suggest checking out the Mocean Worker CD,
MIXED EMOTIONAL FEATURES. From what I gather, all Willner really did on
WHOOPS...was pick out the samples from his record collection. Adam Dorn
(aka Mocean Worker) did most everything else.
