i have to agree w/elson on his assessment of the pc sequencer rundown. cakewalk is really great for beginners (i.e., easy to learn) and for the most part tends toward being quite stable. it seems like what they do is wait for cubase's features to go over or to bomb, and then they implement the good ideas in their next version. cubase is really great in terms of features, but you're gonna be dealing with a lot of crashes. logic audio seems to be the winner (if you don't mind a steep learning curve) in terms of stability & features. it's also available for mac. a friend of mine uses both the audio and midi features (he does all sorts of crazy controller stuff) of logic and is very happy with it, also, i think andreas from outside (matt cooper's group) uses logic. i, on the other hand feel a little too invested in cubase to switch.
