It works fine for me. I dunno why it's not working for you, dude. Sorry!
In response to the misinformed, misguided, and haters towards the 2 Step
(UK Garage) Movement :)
Isn't it funny how some peeps from the US are having a problem with UK
"2 Step" Garage. I guess they think it's a trend like Speed Garage. But
in actuality it's even influenced people like Jazzanova, Basement Jaxx,
and Gilles Peterson (Talkin' Loud label w/ MJ Cole).
Look when Jungle got big in '94-'94, Acid jazz heads took notice of
Goldie's "Inner City Life" (A masterpiece), Alex Reece's "Pulp Fiction",
T Power's "Horny Mutant Jazz", and Roni Size's "Daylight" (yes, a
reworking od Ramp's "Daylight" ). Now, I feel Jungle 's transformation
was good at first. It got more melodic and musical with Reprezent, Adam
F, and 4 Hero, with it's journey into drum & bass. But a backlash came
when some heads like Renegade Hardware/ Bad Company, Calyx, RAM, and
Usual Suspects came on. Sure they can be sonically appealling
sometimes, but they've gotten a lil' too dark & noisy for some original
jungle heads. Hence, the move like Steve Gurley (Foul Play Productions),
DJ Phantasy, and DR. S Gachet made into 2 step Garage where the melody,
jazzy, soulfulness, dancehall riddims, & hip hop flava has shifted to.
I personally DJ-ed Jungle/Drum & Bass from '95- '99. But in the last 3
years I built up a healthy collection of Uk Garage (2 Step) and deep,
jazzy, funky, and tech house. Playing Garage/ House out more than
ever around the west coast. The slow change began at the end of '97,
when I heard Tuff Jam, Dreem Teem, MJ Cole, Ramsey and Fen, Mousse T./
Boris Dlugosch, Somore, New Horizons, Catch, 500 Records, but
unfortunately I bought some stinkers Double 99/ Rip Productions, 187
Lockdown, and Nu Birth. And that's why 2 step or UK Garage has a seen a
rise in popularity in the past few years.
MJ Cole have signed a lucrative deal with Talkin' Loud, and is releasing
a full length out soon. Dreem Teem are runnin' the airwaves in London
(Radio 1 and Galaxy FM), Artful Dodger, Shanks and Bigfoot, and Bump &
Flex (Grant Nelson) have all seen tons of remix work and major success
(#1's for some of them, too), for their own tunes. Sure, their has been
some shotty bootleg remixes of R&B people Whitney Houston, Dru Hill,
Blackstreet, TLC, and Sisqo's "Thong Song" (Yuch!!!!!!!). But I have to
say Destiny's Child's "Say my name" sounds so much better with a 2 Step
breakbeat carrying it at 128 bpm, than the crappy Timbaland like 64 bpm
speed.
I hope people can find the good stuff out there like the Future
Homosapien's w/ Barbara Tucker "Peg" rework, Brand New Heavies's
Apparently Nothin's (Artful Dodger remix), and MJ Cole's "Crazy Love".
A 2 Step dj/supporter/producer from the US,
