Speaking of Mark De Clive Lowe...
I picked up the sampler of his new album today and it's quite a nice
piece. I half way expected that he would be doing archetypical West
London stuff, but he is foraging with his own (self produced) style.
It's not *overly* unique, but I would say that it's a good step in
the right direction. Not watered-down, either.
Particularly, I like the chord progression in the A side - "El Dia
Perfecto" - not bad at all. I'll definitely play the track with my
west london sets. One of the tracks is a "dub mix" of what must be a
hip hop tune... I will be interested to see who MC'ed on it once the
album drops.
Cheers,

ps:
Also picked up a new Total Science EP on Skin Deep. Much to my
suprise, it sounds a bit like a Seiji record. Isn't it interesting
how many forward-looking drum n bass producers are shifting their
emphasis? Look at Dego, Domu (Sonar Circle), Seiji, etc... Cool...
pps: I know mark has some tunes posted on Mp3.com - check 'em out
