I don't know that I'd call it a great record, but Small Talk is decent. By this point I'd say it was clear he was declining, but there are a couple of jams here (although I prefer his 1975 album, High On You, more). Small Talk came out in 1974, after Fresh. The cover art and song are tributes to his then-new family (he had gotten married in the middle of one of his shows, great way to get publicity for the show). This album also has a new version of the Family Stone, so don't expect to hear Larry Graham's influence here. Here's the track listing.
1. Small Talk
2. Say You Will
3. Mother Beautiful
4. Time for Livin'
5. Can't Strain My Brain
6. Loose Booty
7. Holdin' On
8. Wishful Thinking
9. Better Thee Than Me
10. Livin' While I'm Livin'
11. This Is Love
