Been shuffling Cassettes in my Car's deck (CD changer won't work
without a $45 charge from my helpful dealer):
1. KMD "Mr Hood" (NOT, sex, drugs & Rock'n'Roll, BUT, Love, Hugs and
Hip-Hop Soul!)
2. J Rocc "Blackalicious" mix tape (came with my Quannum Projects
T-Shirt) two sides, "Nia" side with a mix from the album and a "94
and beyond" side with such classics as 'Swan Lake' up to 'Alphabet
Aerobics'
3. MGtheVisionary [BEC] pretty good Christian hip-hop with a range of
styles, both from the typical 'Timbaland' beat, but, with goofy
lyrics, and more live 'Roots' type feel too. (heard it on a latenight
motocross show.)
and a couple of CDs, in my DVD player!:
DJ Krush "Code4109" [sony/red ink] - a great hip-hop/downtempo mix
with some interesting mixes. i.e. "Taiyou Ga Arikagiri" Monkey Ken &
DJ Seto feat Hazaed & Daddy Shadow (good Japanese hip-hop) with
'Polegnala E Pschenitza' Orchestra & Choir of Bulgarian Radio going
over the top. Cool
Kid Loco "DJ KiCKS!" [!K7] - some seriously deep grooves as only he can do.
Duke Ellington & John Coltrane - some amazing small combo stuff from
two of the masters.
Napster at work:
Beatnuts 'Watch out now' just can't get enough of that flute loop
Mr Scruff 'Get a move on' love the groove
The Simpsons 'Stonecutters Song' (...who keeps the Metric system
down, we do...)
Sublime 'What I Got' - just like the feel of it
Roots feat. Erykah Badu 'You Got Me' (Blue Mar Ten d'n'b remix)
trying to find the white label bootleg of this.
